Explore the Journey
Full ItineraryWhere the mountains meet the prairie in western Montana, you see “The Big Sky,” a phrase coined by A.B. Guthrie, Jr. in his 1947 novel of the same name, and it’s where you’ll find The Nature Conservancy’s Pine Butte Preserve. The historic Pine Butte Ranch is your base for this remarkable journey into one of North America’s most intact and wild ecosystems. Dramatic limestone peaks tower above native grasslands, the views go on forever, and opportunities for exploring diverse habitats seem just as endless. Through hikes, horseback rides and guided naturalist tours, you’ll have a unique opportunity to experience this rugged and beautiful region.
