Volunteer Overview

Help us protect the Oak Openings Region by joining us at a volunteer event at Kitty Todd Nature Preserve this year. The success of our program relies on the support of volunteers, and with your help we can accomplish so much more than we could alone. Join TNC staff and volunteers for a stewardship event, and come see why everyone adores the Oak Openings!

Invasive Plant Removal

Invasive plants are one of the greatest threats to our conservation mission because they can displace native plants, degrade wildlife habitat and increase erosion and siltation in streams. Volunteers will help remove these plants to ensure native plant communities and wildlife can thrive.

Event Dates

Saturday, September 16, 2023 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

Seed Collection

Native plants are critically important to the health of ecosystems. Volunteers can help TNC collect native plant seeds that will be propagated and used in restoration and habitat protection projects throughout the state. Volunteers will have the chance to explore natural areas that are typically not accessible to the public and get firsthand knowledge about the beautiful and rare plants in the region.

Event Dates

Saturday, October 21, 2023 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
Saturday, November 18, 2023 (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)
