Volunteer Overview

The Efroymson Restoration at Kankakee Sands is 8,400 acres of prairies and wetlands, owned and managed by the Indiana chapter of The Nature Conservancy. More than 600 species of native plants have been used to plant the prairies of Kankakee Sands and as a result, the land is teeming with native wildlife. The greenhouse is where many of these plants have been grown.

You’re invited to come spend a morning in the warm and cozy greenhouse transplanting tender seedlings into individual pots. These plants are entirely native species and are a great way to learn about growing native plants from seed. This event is very family friendly!

  • No experience with gardening, seeds, plants, or tools is needed.
  • All ages welcome and this is a very family-friendly event.
  • Please RSVP to Alyssa Nyberg at anyberg@tnc.org.
