Volunteer Overview

Calling all nature enthusiasts, explorers and curious minds!

Come enjoy a fun volunteer workday to help collect invaluable ecological data on the vegetation, habitat and wildlife near the Little Blue and Blue rivers.

Join The Nature Conservancy and Heartland Conservation Alliance at TNC’s Little Blue River property and nearby areas owned by Jackson County Parks + Rec on Saturday, October 7th from 9-12pm for a BioBlitz for the Blues!

Our goal is to gather early ecological data on the vegetation, habitat, aquatic organisms, birds and other wildlife present at the site for baseline data prior to the start of restoration activities.

We will follow National Geographic BioBlitz methods powered by the iNaturalist and Seek smartphone apps for this event. Natural resource experts will be on-hand to guide the sampling efforts and assist with the identification process.

What’s a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is a communal citizen-science effort to record as many species within a designated location and time period as possible.
