River History Hike

Take a 2-mile river hike with us to learn about the Poultney River and how it has changed over time.

Hike to a seldom-visited floodplain in the Lower Poultney River Natural Area preserve to explore river ecology, river conservation issues, and a story of how this preserve changed in the 1700’s from the head of a navigable bay of Lake Champlain to the river that we know today. Participants should be prepared to hike up to 2 miles with some gradual elevation change, with possibly some off-trail walking over wet ground and through thick old-field vegetation. We’ll be making a lunch stop, so please bring your own lunch! Please contact Paul at pmarangelo@tnc.org with any questions.

This trip is limited to 15 people. Please RSVP!
