Trail Building at The Basin

Maine

The Basin Preserve is a recreational and scenic treasure, providing coastal access for clamming, fishing and miles of hiking trails. The Basin is the Conservancy’s largest coastal preserve in Maine and one of the Conservancy’s most valuable individual land gifts.

The Mica Trail at The Basin takes hikers past historic mines and through a spectacular pitch pine woodland. Join us as we extend the trail with a short segment that creates a loop hike opportunity. This is a great way to learn more about the history of the mines, visit one of the best pitch pine woodlands in the Midcoast region, meet new people, and give back to nature!
