To celebrate the 40th anniversary of TNC’s management of Sycan Marsh Preserve, we are conducting a BioBlitz to record the biodiversity of the preserve. Volunteers will work with subject matter experts, field guides, and online resources to document every living thing we find on the preserve.
On Saturday, we will break into small groups based on interests and go out on the preserve to catalog our findings. Ambitious volunteers can elect for post-sunset shifts, looking for nocturnal species! On Sunday, we will spend a half-day going to additional areas and looking for undocumented species. We will upload all information as we go and at the end of the effort be able to get final numbers and celebrate the preserve’s biodiversity.
Logistical Information: High-school age youth are welcome to participate on Saturday. Adults are invited to camp on the preserve Friday (6/19) & Saturday (6/20) nights. We will provide a light continental breakfast on Saturday & Sunday mornings as well as dinner on Friday and Saturday.
Registration is required.
