Join The Nature Conservancy in South Carolina on a sunset dinner cruise to experience the spectacular Purple Martin migration over Lake Murray!
Every year, nearly a million iridescent, glossy Purple Martins roost at Bomb Island on Lake Murray on their way to South America. For two months, they perform show-stopping aerial acrobatics each evening as they snap up flying insects to fuel their long migration.
This sunset cruise on The Spirit of Lake Murray is one you won’t forget—bring your binoculars and cameras!
We’ll have with us guest speaker John Emmett Cely, a retired biologist and ornithologist from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and Mark L. Robertson, state director for The Nature Conservancy in South Carolina. You won’t want to miss their expert commentary on the birds’ antics, migration and protection.
Tickets are $60 and include a BBQ dinner (vegetarian option upon request). A cash bar and restrooms will be available on the boat.
