Volunteer with Us!

Help us protect Big Darby Creek Headwaters Nature Preserve by joining us at a volunteer event this year! The success of our program relies on the support of volunteers, and with your help we are able to accomplish so much more than we could alone. Join TNC staff and volunteers on Saturdays this spring and summer for volunteer stewardship events focused on tree planting and controlling invasive species.

Tree Planting Events

A critical component to the long-term protection and conservation of natural areas is creating and enhancing the native plant communities by planting seedling plugs of various tree, sedge, grass and forb species. Join us at one of our weekend volunteer events to help prepare and plant trees!

All events are held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Event Dates

March 19, 2022: Tree planting (prep with chemicals)
April 2, 2022: Tree planting (prep with tree tubes)
April 9, 2022: Tree planting  (2 shifts at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.)

Invasive Species Removal

Invasive plants are one of the greatest threats to our conservation mission because they can displace native plants, degrade wildlife habitat and increase erosion and siltation in streams. Join us at one of our weekend volunteer events to help control invasive plants!

All events are held on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Event Dates

May 7, 2022: Garlic mustard pull
June 4, 2022: Invasive cattail removal
July 16, 2022: Woody invasives removal
