City Nature Challenge: ABQ!

Mark your calendars for April 26-29, 2019 for the first City Nature Challenge: ABQ! Over four days, Albuquerque will be competing with more than 130 other communities across the world to make and share observations of nature.

About City Nature Challenge

The City Nature Challenge is a friendly competition between cities all over the world to see which one can observe the most nature. Get out and see some great urban nature while helping scientists collect biodiversity data—and help Albuquerque win!

How to Get Involved

Download iNaturalist: Add the free app for Android and iPhone and sign up for the project: City Nature Challenge 2019: ABQ.

Attend an event, or participate on your own! To find planned events around Albuquerque throughout the challenge, visit inaturalist.org.

Observe from April 26-29!

  • Find Wildlife: It can be any plant, animal, fungi, slime mold, or any other evidence of life (scat, fur, tracks, shells, carcasses!) No humans or captive organisms.
  • Take Pictures of What You Find: Use the iNaturalist app or upload digital photos to the website.
  • Share Your Observations: Create an iNaturalist account and upload your sightings on the iNaturalist app!
