Conservation Café: Mules in the Michigamme

Michigan

Meet the Mules!

Deep in the Upper Peninsula sits a remote 17,000-acre tract within the Ottawa National Forest named the McCormick Wilderness Area. Designated wilderness areas like this one stay pristine thanks to a number of regulations, including a ban on electric tools and motorized vehicles.

But what happens when you need to execute restoration porojects without access to these tools and equipment? Enter a team of pack mules from the Shoshone National Forest in Cody, Wyoming.

On this presentation, you’ll meet Chewy, Tubbs, Boomer and crew as Emily Clegg shares her experience and what she learned along the way.

There are two live options to choose from both at 12pm EDT on September 18 or October 2

Happy Trails The Nature Conservancy and the U.S. Forest Service – Ottawa National Forest tackled a routine trail restoration project in a most unusual way.
