Fall Volunteer Workday at Whitney Preserve

South Dakota

Join us as we prepare the Bunkhouse and grounds for winter hibernation! We will be working on a variety of projects around the preserve.  Possible projects include collecting native grass seed, brush piling, and others.  All ages and abilities welcome!  In the afternoon, we will give a brief program update followed by a nature outing or a walk.  Check back for more details!


Meet at Bev’s Bunkhouse on Whitney Preserve located at 28075 Cascade Road, Hot Springs, SD 57747. Follow the signs from the Preserve’s entrance.


  • 8:30 a.m.: Coffee and donuts are on as we meet at Bev’s Bunkhouse on the Preserve. (Follow the signs from Cascade Road.)
  • 9:00 a.m.: Groups will break off for specialized work projects
  • 12:30 p.m.: Lunch break and a program update on the work TNC is doing in Western SD.
  • 1:30 p.m.: We’ll have a nature outing or take a walk – more details to come!

What to Bring

Bring your lunch, water, binoculars, field guides, waterproof boots, and a jacket. Work volunteers should also bring work gloves and any tools for adopted special projects.
