Brazos Woods Open Preserve Days

March 16, 2020

Friends and supporters:

We've been listening to and researching guidance from the Center for Disease Control and public health experts and are taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Until further notice, TNC preserves in Texas are now closed to the public. We’ll be updating all of our digital channels in real time with current schedules and information. The health and safety of our members and supporters is our highest priority—thank you for understanding!

The Nature Conservancy’s Brazos Woods Preserve opens for hiking, birding, picnics, volunteer work and more on the first Monday of each month. Just 60 miles southwest of the Greater Houston area, it feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Since the preserve offers limited public access, Open Days are a unique opportunity to experience the vast richness of the Columbia Bottomlands’ beautiful natural landscapes and wildlife. Additionally, the preserve’s open-air education pavilion on preserve grounds overlooks the pond and offers opportunities for picnics, educational programming and simply enjoying time in nature. Hours for open day events are from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.
