Join us in Owensboro on May 1, 2023, for an introduction to our work throughout Kentucky. You’ll learn about reforestation of former mine lands in eastern Kentucky, dam removals on the Green River and wetland restoration in western Kentucky. We look forward to meeting you!

Earth Day at Dupree Nature Preserve

On Earth Day 2023, join us for a community hike at Dupree Nature Preserve in the Kentucky River Palisades region. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in various activities and enjoy food and drinks. There will be an opportunity to volunteer for light trail maintenance.

Urban Conservation

At our final Lunch and Learn of the year, you'll meet North America Cities Network Director Chris Chandler and learn all about our urban conservation work in Louisville, Kentucky. From the Green Heart project, a six-year longitudinal health study testing whether urban greening can improve human health, to our work on Mill Creek, one of the largest urban stream restoration projects in the country, you'll learn how nature and people can thrive together in cities.

Meet our Director of Floodplain Strategies Shelly Morris as she takes us through a tour of her work in western Kentucky. Our priorities in this landscape include restoring former wetlands to thriving bottomland hardwood forest and reconnecting the floodplain to help mitigate flooding and return nature to a healthy state.

Our Central Appalachians Project Director Chris Garland will introduce our work in this region, from planting tens of thousands of trees on former minelands to conducting controlled burns to improve forest health. We are committed to stewarding our portion of the Central Appalachians, a critical landscape as the climate changes.
