Offshore Wind Master Plan Released

Today Governor Cuomo Will Release the Offshore Wind Master Plan, Furthering New York’s Commitment to Renewable Energy, Spurring Economic Development

Albany, NY

“The Nature Conservancy applauds Governor Cuomo for taking a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to developing our offshore wind resources smart from the start to avoid, minimize, and mitigate potential impacts to marine life,” said Amanda Lefton, New York deputy policy director for The Nature Conservancy. “New York examined the best available information and engaged in robust public outreach to put forward a plan that prioritizes a healthy ocean and the communities and industries it supports. The plan also paves the way for the procurement of renewable energy resources, spurring a new clean energy economy, and combating climate change, the most pressing threat to our world. The Nature Conservancy commends the State and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority for working to protect our vital ocean resources, the life blood for our coastal communities, and continuing to lead the nation on reducing carbon emissions, the leading driver of climate change.”
