Biography
Leo Almeida is the Climate and Clean Energy Policy Associate for The Nature Conservancy in Ohio, where he works with members of the Ohio General Assembly and Ohio members of Congress to advance clean energy and energy efficiency policies and regulations, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He’s also focused on building influence networks and strategic partnerships that will help promote climate and energy policy initiatives.
Leo believes that climate change may be the most important challenge humanity has ever faced, but that through collective action, innovative science and nature itself we can achieve the world’s climate goals.
Prior to joining the Conservancy, Leo worked in the Ohio Senate – first as a Legislative Service Commission fellow and then as a senior legislative aide. He took a leave-of-absence in 2014 to manage the state campaign for Democratic Lt. Governor candidate Sharen Neuhardt.
Leo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnic Studies from Bowling Green State University.
