Dr. Keith Ouchley, the State Director of The Nature Conservancy for the Louisiana and Mississippi chapters, has been involved in conservation work throughout his life. A native of Louisiana, Dr. Ouchley received his Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Biology from the University of Louisiana and his Doctorate in Wildlife Ecology from Louisiana State University. He formerly served as a post-doctoral fellow in the School of Forestry, Wildlife and Fisheries at L.S.U. and currently holds the role of Adjunct Assistant Professor at L.S.U.
He is the author of numerous scientific publications dealing with the ecology and habitat of Louisiana and is the recipient of several major awards for his work, including the prestigious National Researcher of the Year Award in 1998 for his work involving habitat conservation in the Lower Mississippi River Valley. He joined the staff of The Nature Conservancy in 1998, has served as the Louisiana State Director since June, 2000 and Mississippi State Director since October, 2013.
