Monarch Butterfly Volunteer Day
First everybody signed in!
It was a sweet and gentle day. Old and young and new friends learned about planting milkweeds and other pollinator attracting plants. We hoped to become a certified "Monarch Butterfly Waystation."
The Southern Nevada Milkweed project arrived with experienced team leaders and taught us about milkweeds and how to plant them and protect the plants.
Richard Cantino is my great friend who never, ever stops volunteering for nature. Richard is a hard working member of the Red Rock Audubon Society of Pahrump and Las Vegas. Thank you to Red Rock Audubon Society. Richard and Carol Cantino will host another Monarch Butterfly Volunteer Day at Discovery Park in Parhump Nevada on Saturday April 23rd. Details here on the Red Rock Audubon website.
It was great to have young volunteers from Pahrump, Nevada. Thank you, Nye County Youth advisory Committee!
Doyle Wayman teaches us about plants and roots.
Crissi & Jo working hard together....well Crissi is.
The parking lot was packed with volunteers!
Everyone enjoyed a nice big salad and an excellent grilled lunch afterwards.
Carol Cantino wants to go birding!
I'm proud of our new sign for Torrance Ranch!
