Volunteer Job Description Protection Files Assistant – Elkins
The Nature Conservancy is a private, non-profit, international conservation organization. Its mission is to preserve plants, animals, and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive. The Volunteer Protection Files Assistant will provide support to the West Virginia Chapter’s Conservation Assistant in her work to recreate the Protection Files filing system. The Nature Conservancy will provide necessary training for the Volunteer Protection Files Assistant to complete required tasks and ensure that (s)he feels competent in carrying them out independently.
TITLE: Volunteer Protection Files Assistant RESPONSIBLE TO: Conservation Assistant, Allison Jones DUTIES OF THE PROTECTION FILES ASSISTANT: The Protection Files Assistant will help the Conservation Assistant to apply a new organizational format to the Protection Files system. This will include, among other things: initial sorting, consolidating, purging, re-categorizing, labeling, ordering correspondence chronologically, and creating a master outline of the Protection Files system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
LENGTH OF APPOINTMENT: Temporary; three to six months with possibilities for extension TIME REQUIRED: 10 hours per week; may fluctuate depending on program demands PREFFERED START DATE: March, 2006 PREFFERED DAY AND/OR TIME OF THE WEEK: Our office is open Monday – Friday, How will a volunteer benefit from this position?
