Spring is just around the corner! After this long, cold, snowy, and much-needed winter, I’m sure you’re all excited for longer days, warmer weather, and plenty of opportunities to get outside.

For some of those opportunities, take a look at the upcoming volunteer projects taking place around the state, below. From Moab to Davis County, we need volunteers for conservation, outreach, and administrative help. To sign up for any of these projects, contact Heidi Nedreberg, at 801-531-0999.  Thanks!

We Need Your Help This Spring!

May

3-4th – Conservation – Uintah Basin Rare Plants Survey, Vernal.   Join us in Vernal, Utah, where we will be surveying for Graham’s Penstemon, a very rare plant found only in eastern Utah and western Colorado. Each group of 4 volunteers will be paired with an expert, so no previous experience is necessary- you will be guided in what to look for. Campsites will be provided for Friday and Saturday night, as well as dinner Saturday night with TNC staff and partners! Contact Joan Degiorgio at 801-531-0999 or jdegiorgio@tnc.org for more information or to sign up!

10th – Outreach – Urban Birding Day at Tracy Aviary, Salt Lake City.  Are you an expert birder? Planning for the first Urban Birding Day at Tracy Aviary is underway, and The Nature Conservancy will be having a booth from 10 am to 4 pm, where we will be showing festival attendees different aspects of birdwatching. More information to come! If you’re interested in helping with the planning or in staffing the booth for two hours, please contact Heidi for more information!

16th & 17th – Outreach – Great Salt Lake Bird Festival Booth, Farmington.  Aside from being a great event to attend (as listed above in events), The Nature Conservancy will also have a booth in need of Outreach volunteers from 12-7 on Friday, May 16th, and 10 – 6 on Saturday, May 17th. We will need 14 volunteers total staffing the booth in 2-hour shifts. In addition, we will need two lead volunteers: one in charge of picking up materials from our office and setting up the booth, another in charge of taking down the booth and returning the materials to the office. Please contact Heidi for more information!

23 and 27-28th – AdministrativeFront Desk Support, Salt Lake City.  Our administrative assistant will be out of town and we need help with front desk coverage and phones. Hours are from 9-5, and lunch is provided! If you can help us at least half a day, contact Heidi by May 16th to set up a training time with our Executive Assistant!.
