Jan Roberts grew up in the small Texas Hill Country town of Hunt, which at the time boasted a population of just 25. This small-town girl was destined to become a world traveler in later years, though.
Jan’s adventurous spirit and love of travel have taken her to some of the most remote and exotic spots on Earth, including far-flung places like Iceland, the Amazon Basin, Mongolia, Nepal, Antarctica and the North Pole. Her enthusiasm for travel is matched only by her love of nature. But despite the places she has seen on her journeys, her heart has always belonged to the rugged beauty of Texas.
Exploration of the mountains and prairies of her home state led Jan to The Nature Conservancy, and she became a member more than 20 years ago. Considering her passion for nature, it is not surprising Jan has named the Conservancy in her will.
For her, a bequest is a way of “giving to the future” and she takes comfort in knowing the places she treasures will remain unchanged.
With her indomitable spirit and love of life, Jan shows no signs of slowing down, and continues to travel to new places. For Jan, there is joy to be found everywhere and in everything, especially in nature. Thanks to her legacy gift and the conservation work it will support, future generations in Texas and around the world will have a chance to find their own joy and create their own lasting memories.
