Pam Robinson Named The Nature Conservancy's Winyah Bay Project Director
Columbia, SC - June 28, 2001 - Pam Robinson has worked for the South Carolina Chapter of TNC since 1997. She is leaving her position as Assistant Director of Science and Stewardship to take on her new role. She has seventeen years of experience working with endangered species and longleaf pine forests in the Sandhills and Coastal Plain of the Carolinas. She earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in the natural sciences, and is a certified Prescribed Burn Manager, a Permitted Red-Cockaded Woodpecker Biologist and a Certified Wildlife Biologist.
Robinson has already done a great deal of work in the Winyah Bay Project area, implementing TNC's management on Sandy Island and at Brookgreen Gardens. Just this year alone, Robinson's efforts resulted in several hundred acres of prescribed burning at both locations, far exceeding past years.
Robinson will retain her responsibilities as TNC's Fire Manager for South Carolina. She has overall authority for fire management and prescribed fire projects for TNC and for partners such as the state Heritage Trust program and Brookgreen Gardens.
