MEREDITH MALONE

Landscape Ecologist

Meredith first began working with the Maryland/D.C. Chapter of The Nature Conservancy in 2001 shortly after graduating from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a B.S. in Wildlife Sciences. Over a four year span with the Maryland/D.C. Chapter, she filled the roles of Office Assistant, volunteer, Invasive Species Control Intern, and Conservation Steward. In 2007, Meredith earned an M.S. in Forestry at North Carolina State University where her research focused on palm tree abundance and growth in a Commonwealth Forest in Puerto Rico. In the same year, she joined the South Carolina Chapter of The Nature Conservancy in Charleston, SC.

Meredith’s role as Landscape Ecologist primarily entails conservation planning on a large, watershed-level scale by identifying strategies to abate threats which endanger the viability of rare natural communities throughout South Carolina. She additionally engages in ecological mapping projects, scientific species and landscape monitoring, invasive species management, and various restoration projects.
