COLETTE DEGARADY

Conservation Ecologist

Colette is part of the Stewardship staff and is located in the Charleston satellite office of SCTNC.   She graduated from Clemson University with a BS in wildlife biology in 1998. In addition, she has a Master’s Degree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale in Zoology. She has worked throughout the state of SC on the Savannah River Site, at the Brosnan Forest, and on Sandy Island on a variety of ecological projects with the University of Florida, Clemson University, and the SC Department of Natural Resources, respectively. 

She has also worked with the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples, Florida conducting sea turtle research, the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge in McAllen, Texas assisting with a local revegetation project, and at the Charleston Airforce Base implementing management plans for nuisance wildlife.

Colette is currently an active member of the SC Native Plant Society and volunteers to lead wildflower walks and distribute information to the public about native plant use.

Her role with TNC involves conducting science assessments on land throughout the state, assisting MeadWestvaco timber company with research and management recommendations for rare plants and communities on their land, in addition to, participating in conservation planning on various levels across the state
