 MARY CONLEY

Marine Conservation Coordinator

Mary received her BS in Marine Biology and Geology from the College of Charleston and her Master’s in Marine Science from The University of Texas. She has spent the past nine years working in Annapolis, Maryland with the Chesapeake Bay Program and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. Most recently, she served as the Coastal Planning Section Chief with the Maryland Coastal Program, where she focused on aquatic sensitive areas management, marine managed areas, watershed planning and community development.

Mary joined The Nature Conservancy in October 2005 and is serving as the Marine Conservation Coordinator for North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. She is responsible for leading the development and implementation of conservation action plans for priority estuarine and marine sites in the three states. As a new initiative in the region, Mary will focus on how to include marine and estuarine conservation in the Conservancy’s efforts.
