Clay Head Preserve
Located in the northeast part of Block Island, the Clay Head Preserve covers approximately 190 acres on the northeastern end of Block Island. It was conserved through a partnership between The Nature Conservancy, the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, and the Lapham family. The trail runs east toward the ocean for about .3 miles. After you pass Clay Head Swamp, with the scenic Littlefield Farm in the background, you will reach an intersection in the trail. Turn right to visit the beach, or left to climb up above to the clay bluffs and into "the Maze," a series of unmarked, intertwining trails perfect for hours of wandering. Plants Animals Directions |
