Free Nature Walks at Francis C. Carter Preserve

All programs are free, but please call Tim Mooney at (401) 529-1072 to register, in case of cancellation or changes.  Nature walks are limited to 15 participants.  For directions to the Carter Preserve and to download a trail map click here.

Saturday, October 24    1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Carter Preserve "Behind the Scenes" Hike
Spend the afternoon hiking on and off trail with the preserve manager, exploring a few rarely visited pockets of the preserve.  Moderately difficult. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.  Meet at the parking lot on Route 112.

Halloween Walk
We'll examine two small historic cemeteries tucked in the woods, and look for blooming witch hazel - a tall woodland shrub with supernatural power!  Meet at the parking lot on Old Mill Road.

Please Note:  the archery season runs from November 1 to December 31 at the Francis Carter Preserve.

Look for a schedule of winter walks starting in January.
