Nature Conservancy Leads Native Plant Hike

Participants to explore Mount Holly Marsh Preserve

MOUNT HOLLY SPRINGS, PENNSYLVANIA — April 17, 2008 — Spring showers have ushered in a scenic wonder at Mount Holly Marsh, offering hikers an opportunity to see nature’s garden emerge from the long winter.

The Nature Conservancy and Cumberland County will lead a native plant hike through Mount Holly Marsh Preserve on Saturday, April 26 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The public is invited, and space is limited. Please reserve your place by contacting Molly Anderson at The Nature Conservancy by April 23 at 717-232-6001 extension 117 or by e-mail at molly_anderson@tnc.org.

Participants should wear sturdy hiking boots and bring a camera and binoculars. The group will hike along with local Master Gardeners and learn about the rare native plants found at the preserve such as glade spurge, golden club, horned pondweed and buckthorn.

Mount Holly Marsh Preserve is a short drive from the state Capitol Building. It is owned by Cumberland County and receives management assistance from The Nature Conservancy. To learn more about the Conservancy, visit nature.org/Pennsylvania.
