Every Little Bit Helps ...

Conservation's Future !!!!
Conservation's Future !!!!

It started with a class in school about the rainforest for 7-year old Kyra Carlson. Right then she decided she wanted to do something to benefit rainforest conservation. She talked it up with some of her friends and they came up with the idea of having a car wash and giving the proceeds to The Nature Conservancy for rainforest protection.

Kyra, along with her friends Spencer Carlin, Sam Etchison, Madeline McTigue and Jodianne Loyd, held their car wash, with help from older siblings and parents. They raised $250.10 and presented their donation to Oklahoma Chapter personnel in person. They have each been enrolled in TNC's Adopt-an-Acre Program, which each year directs funds to an imperiled rainforest in critical need of protection somewhere in the world. Every $50 secures protection for an acre of rainforest, with each acre harboring hundreds of plant and animal species.

The action taken by these knowledgeable and determined young people will not only have a very real impact for conservation, but it bodes well for an up and coming generation of individuals who care about our planet and its wildlife habitats.
