Always bring: work gloves, backpack, lunch, beverage, dry socks/shoes, and hat.
Cold weather gear: long pants and long sleeves, hat, layered natural fibers.
Warm weather gear: long pants and long sleeves, hat, insect repellent, sun screen.
Foot gear for dry lands: sturdy hiking or work boots, waterproofed if possible.
Foot gear for wetlands: Rubber boots work well at the fens. Some workers prefer old work boots that can get trashed, but which stay on your feet in mucky conditions. Work at the fens, bogs, marshes and swamps may involve ankle- to knee-deep water.
Trail maintenance, fire break clearing: Ear plugs will be provided; bring eye protection (goggles or safety glasses) to wear when using power tools (such as chainsaws & brush cutters) or doing fire break clearing.
Plant pests: Always wear long sleeves and work gloves, and bring a change of clothes if you are highly allergic to poison ivy or sumac.
Fires (prescribed or brush pile): non-synthetic clothing, leather boots, leather gloves, goggles or protective eyewear are recommended.
