Overview:
Experience the unique alpine heath bald environment and spectacular vistas of the Roan Mountain highlands. Hike Carvers Gap on Roan Mountain to Big Grassy Bald by the Appalachian Trail and back to Carvers Gap.  Hike lasts about 4 hours with a break for lunch on Big Grassy.  Meet at 10:00 am at the Roan Mountain State Park Visitor Center on Hwy. 143 south of Roan Mountain, TN.

How to Prepare for the Hike:
Bring a lunch and water. Wear good hiking boots and dress for the weather (rain gear and a sweater).
