Now that you've filled out your application and waiver forms, it's time to take a look at what kind of opportunities are available.

August 2009

East End Greenfest
Date/Time: Saturday, August 1, 2009 10:00am – 6:00pm.

Location: Strawberry Fields Fairgrounds, Mattituck

Description: Live music, healthy and local foods, natural products, renewable energy, farmer's market, contests, waste reduction, live entertainment and more!

Help staff The Nature Conservancy's booth and get free admission to the show.

What to Wear: Casual; free TNC shirts will be given to volunteers

**Please make sure that you have filled out our application forms in advance.

Directions: Strawberry Fields is located at: 1175 route 48 Mattituck NY 11952. LIE East to exit 73- Route 58 (Orient). Follow Route 58 East- becomes Route 25 east. Follow Route 25 East approx 11.5 miles to Mattituck. Make Left onto Franklinville Road. Make next left onto Aldrich Lane.
Take Aldrich Lane to end. Make right onto Sound Ave. Sound Ave becomes Route 48. Follow signs and proceed to the festival.
 


Paddle the River - in search of Ludwigia
Date/Time: Saturday, August 8, 2009 9:00am – 2:00pm.

Location: Peconic Lake Estates Civic Organization (PLECO) property in Calverton. Directions provided for those who register.

Description: After 3 years of volunteer help we have successfully contained the invasion!  Paddle the Peconic Rive & hand pull remaining Ludwigia – an invasive aquatic plant.

What to Bring: Your own canoe or Kayak, or sign up to reserve a spot in one we provide (though seats are limited), life jackets, and sunscreen. Bottled water will be provided, and join us for a BBQ after the paddle!
