Suffolk County Awards The Nature Conservancy 1 Million ‘Clams’ for Shellfish Restoration Efforts

Conservancy Also Stocks Great South Bay With 1 Millionth Clam

Cold Spring Harbor, NY—June 27, 2006—The Nature Conservancy announced today that Suffolk County has awarded the conservation group $1 million for the restoration of depleted shellfish –specifically hard clams –in the Great South Bay. The funding will further The Nature Conservancy’s unprecedented effort to restore the once-abundant clam and to improve water quality in the Great South Bay.
