The Nature Conservancy 2006 Earth & Ocean Gala
a Success for Long Island

Celebration Honored Ted Weiss for his Commitment to Environment, Quality of Life

Cold Spring Harbor, NY—May 16, 2006—Over 500 guests joined The Nature Conservancy to celebrate the fifth annual Earth & Ocean Gala on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Conservancy's flagship Long Island preserve, Uplands Farm Nature Sanctuary in Cold Spring Harbor.

This year's honoree, Ted Weiss, was recognized for his lead role in helping The Nature Conservancy protect and preserve Long Island's environment. Weiss founded T. Weiss Realty (TWR), one of Long Island’s largest independent commercial development and management firms. TWR has concentrated its efforts in the judicious conversion of obsolete light industrial properties to environmentally friendly office space. Weiss has also assumed a leadership role in the commercial and economic development of Long Island, while remaining true to his commitment to the preservation of open space and protection of the environment.
