How We Work

We are committed to the challenge of conservation in an urbanized world. Find out how we're using research and experience to reach our conservation goals.

Long Island: Where We Work

Since the early 1950s, The Nature Conservancy has protected more than 150,000 acres of pine barrens forests, coastal dunes, ocean beaches, and wetlands across Long Island.

Today, we invite you to explore our preserves, sanctuaries and trails and, most of all, enjoy nature!

Selected Preserves on Long Island

Most preserves are open from dawn to dusk year-round for walking, bird watching, cross country skiing and other passive recreational use.  Please click on a preserve to learn more.
