Thomas Jefferson said, in 1791, "Lake George is, without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw…"

The mission of the Lake George Land Conservancy is to preserve the world-renowned water quality of Lake George and the rare plants and animals within the lake’s 150,000-acre watershed by permanently protecting natural lands through conservation easement and fee acquisition.

The Nature Conservancy has an important partner in the Lake George Land Conservancy, an independent non-profit organization funded by its more than 1000 members. Sharing scientific research and applying progressive conservation strategies enable each of these partners to more effectively protect ecologically important lands and waters for future generations.

Since 1988, the Lake George Land Conservancy and its partners have worked to preserve more than $16 million of land including over 45,000 feet of pristine shoreline and more than 10,500 acres of forests, streams, and wetlands in the Lake George watershed.

We invite you to tour our website, find out more about the Lake George Land Conservancy, and view the breathtaking photographs of the "jewel in the crown of the American lakes." Better yet, come visit us in Lake George. Hike the spectacular Adirondack mountains and swim in the pristine waters.

About the Lake George Land Conservancy
Lake George Land ConservancyThe Lake George Land Conservancy (LGLC) protects Lake George and the surrounding watershed by protecting undeveloped lakeshore and stream corridors; upland intact forest communities; rare, threatened, and endangered species; and scenic vistas.  Critical land protection is accomplished through direct acquisition of conservation easements and land in fee, as well as sound science and effective stewardship.

Our “On the Land” nature excursions at the LGLC’s four nature preserves located around the Lake raise community awareness about the importance of land protection.

The LGLC relies on the support of generous individuals, corporations and foundations concerned for the future of Lake George.  Donations of cash or securities are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law and deeply appreciated.

For information on membership, volunteer opportunities, nature events, and preserving Lake George’s natural heritage, please contact the Lake George Land Conservancy, P.O. Box 1250, 4905 Lake Shore Drive, Bolton Landing, New York 12814, (518) 644-9673.
