The Nature Conservancy of New York

Plan A:  New York State's Open Space Conservation Plan

•  New York State's long tradition of preserving and protecting our natural lands continues today with The Open Space Conservation Plan.  The Plan serves as a "conservation wish list" consisting of natural resources, open spaces, and historical landmarks that the state and its partners would like to see protected.  You can read more about the Plan and how it works on the NYS DEC website.

•  The Open Space Plan is important to conservation in New York not only because it helps set priorities for the State's conservation resources, but also because it presents an opportunity for organizations across the state to come together and work towards a shared goal.  When the state, working in partnership with others, including The Nature Conservancy, is successful in establishing and achieving the land conservation goals set forth by the regional committess, it is declared a Conservation Success.  You can view a photo gallery of Conservation Successes across New York here.
