Saving the Holy Grail of the 'Gunks

•  The Shawangunk Ridge has been designated by The Nature Conservancy as one of Earth's "Last Great Places" for its biological diversity and conservation value.  For different reasons, it has also been designated as vulnerable to development.  This map shows sites within the Ridge that are particularly in need of protection.

•  The Shawangunk Ridge Biodiversity Partnership (SRBP) is a 10-member consortium of land owners and managers (including The Nature Conservancy) who work to develop policies and land use practices to protect the 'Gunks' biological diversity. The SRBP research has produced vital data that will help the surrounding towns shape their own land use plans.  This map shows their study areas.
