From the New York State Director
The persistent media drumbeat about the perils our planet faces at the hands of global climate change is certainly alarming. Images of polar bears stranded on melting ice floats, news of disappearing frog species, forests and glaciers fading away before our eyes, and ruins left in the wake of catastrophic weather events are enough to remind anyone of the threat of a nuclear holocaust.

In light of these extreme events, it's hard not to wonder how a single individual can have a local - let alone national or international - impact.

The good news is that changes do occur when individuals, non-profit organizations, the business sector, and all levels of government unite for a common cause. Initiating and nurturing such partnerships is an important way in which The Nature Conservancy pursues its conservation goals, which is why we are pleased to dedicate this issue to our public partnerships.
