The International Joint Commission (IJC)is a partnership between the United States and Canada. Together, they work to manage the waters on the US/Canada border, including the Great Lakes.
The Lake Ontario - St. Lawrence River Study Board is has now completed its five-year study which the IJC will use to assess and evaluate the current criteria used for regulating water levels on Lake Ontario and in the St. Lawrence River.
Last April, the Eastern New York Chapter led a group of conservantion organizations in hosting Conserving our Local Landscapes, a day-long symposium about best land stewardship practices. Over 100 local land owners and managers attended.
A 35-page Best Practices Toolkit was given to each attendee, and additional information is available on the Stewardship Best Practices website.
