Celebrate Earth Day 2006 With The Nature Conservancy of New York!
Enter our Photo Contest and Participate in Earth Day Activities Across the State
On April 22, 2006, people across the world will celebrate the 36th annual Earth Day. The first Earth Day, held in 1970, had participants and celebrants in two thousand colleges and universities, roughly ten thousand primary and secondary schools, and hundreds of communities across the U.S. In the wake of the first Earth Day, many important laws were passed by Congress, including the Clean Air Act.
Today, Earth Day is still an important and influential event. It serves not only to remind us of the fragile state of our planet but also as a catalyst for education, action, and change! Earth Day is a time to spread a message about hope for the future and optimisim about what we can do to improve and care for our Last Great Places.
