The Nature Conservancy Applauds the Appointment of Rep. Bob Menendez to the U.S. Senate

CHESTER, NJ—Barbara Brummer, Ph.D., executive director of The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey today released the following statement regarding the appointment of Rep. Bob Menendez (NJ-13) to replace Governor-elect Jon Corzine (NJ) in the U.S. Senate for the remainder of his term.

“The Nature Conservancy congratulates Bob Menendez on his appointment to the U.S. Senate to fill the New Jersey Senate seat vacated by Governor-elect Jon Corzine.”

“Rep. Menendez is a well respected leader in New Jersey politics and has an outstanding record in conservation.  We look forward to working more closely with Rep. Menendez and the rest of the New Jersey Congressional Delegation as we continue our work to protect and restore lands and waters in New Jersey and around the world.”

“We are particularly thrilled that Rep. Menendez has been appointed to the Energy and Natural Resources committee, which has an increasingly large role in addressing the difficult challenge of preserving the balance of life for the benefit of both people and nature.”
