July 18, 2009

Volunteers took on two sites on July 18th, accomplishing a lot of much needed work.

Volunteers at McCarran RanchMcCarran Ranch

The Truckee River Flyfishermen did it right when they came out to McCarran Ranch. A great team tackled the prep work needed for the McCarran Ranch House painting and then followed it up with a little BBQ. The afternoon/evening was wrapped up with the group fly-fishing stretches of the Truckee River restored by The Nature Conservancy. This important project of ranch house rehab was given a great start by all of their hard work - The Nature Conservancy is so thankful for their help.

Lockwood Volunteers at Lockwood

At Lockwood, weeds were on the menu for our team of volunteers, and the group tackled some of the invasive species that have taken root in the newly restored areas of Lockwood Park. The resulting pile of pulled weeds was high enough to get lost behind. Thanks to all who came out and a special welcome to those who came out for the first time. In particular, thank you to Cindy and friends who provided cooling neck wraps and snacks for the crew.
