November 09, 2007: The Nature Conservancy in Nebraska Applauds Agreement to Help Restore Missouri River
The Nature Conservancy in Nebraska today applauded Congress for passing the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 (WRDA). One of the components of the legislation is the Missouri River Recovery and Mitigation Program, which authorizes the use of Missouri River mitigation funds for projects across the entire river basin.

The Nature Conservancy announced the hiring of Tyler Janke as wetlands restoration specialist for its Missouri River Program. Janke works to support efforts to restore natural areas along the river on both public and private lands in Nebraska.

May 31, 2007: Cargill Contributes $80,000 for Missouri River Restoration Work
The Nature Conservancy announced that it has received $80,000 from Cargill to support its efforts to restore wetlands along the Missouri River in Nebraska. The money will be used to complete an 85-acre restoration in Burt County as part of a larger effort to create a natural corridor along the river from Ponca to Rulo.

January 23, 2006: Willa Cather Foundation to Acquire Willa Cather Memorial Prairie
After more than 30 years under the care of The Nature Conservancy, the 608-acre Willa Cather Memorial Prairie will have a new owner. The Willa Cather Pioneer Memorial and Education Foundation will assume ownership of the prairie in June of 2006. Along with the transfer, The Nature Conservancy will set up an endowment fund to help the Cather Foundation manage and steward the preserve.
