Lee Barhaugh had a vision for Pine Butte Guest Ranch that went beyond those of similar operations.  He wanted to offer both a quality experience for guests -- one that went beyond a simple horseback ride or hike.  He wanted them to understand and appreciate the spectacular natural world that surrounded Pine Butte.  He also wanted the ranch natural processes disrupted as little as possible by ranch activities.

As early as 2000, Lee had set up solar and wind energy generation on the ranch.  In two decades at the helm, Lee set a standard for sustainability that has been a model for others to follow. His vision has been expanded into a solar greenhouse for guest ranch vegetables, solar water heating in cabins, and fireplace inserts, all of which reduce the ranch’s carbon footprint.

That's why we set up a special fund to continue the work that Lee began. So far, the fund has generated more than $100,000 in contributions that have been translated into projects that allow us to truly live lightly on this very special place.

Please help us continue to make Lee's vision a reality with your contribution to the Lee Barhaugh Good Energy Fund.
