Keeping Busy (or Not) At Pine Butte Guest Ranch

Go on a Ride
Our herd of horses is friendly enough for the beginner and agile enough to handle even the most demanding mountain trail. Most days, you can ride in both the morning and afternoon, and we offer a full-day adventure as well. No matter when you go, the views will be spectacular and our ace wranglers are also well-versed in the natural history of the area and the Conservancy's work to preserve these special places.
No boots? Not to worry. We'll lend you a pair for the duration of your visit.
Take a Hike
There are miles of wonderful trails on the ranch and in the adjacent public land. Go on a planned hike with our naturalist, or set off on your own. You'll have a trail guide in your room, but never hesitate to ask one of our ranch staff about their favorite places to explore.

Get Wet
Our sunny pool is perfect for a pre-dinner dip, and the solar-heated water always feels just right!
Learn Something New
Along with our naturalist-guided hikes and rides, there is a small nature center on the ranch where you can delve more deeply into the natural history of the Rocky Mountain Front.
Break a Record
Challenge someone to a game of horseshoes, or perhaps something more cerebral. We keep a collection of board games, cards and puzzles in the lodge as well as a small library.
Chill Out
Some days all you may want is to kick back with a good book in one of our comfy rocking chairs. Beware, this activity may cause drowsiness -- until the dinner bell brings you back to your senses.
Indulge
Did someone mention dinner? We're famous for our delicious meals and generous portions. Most of the vegetables are grown in the ranch garden or passive solar greenhouse. Besides the basic three squares, the cookie jar is always full, plus fruit and fresh-baked goodies are on hand for snacking at any hour. We also have breakfast and dinner cook-outs. There's always room for s'mores!
Shop
Okay, we know you didn't come to a ranch to buy trinkets, but in addition to batteries, stamps and some of the toiletries you may have forgotten; our gift shop offers t-shirts and nature-oriented books and gifts -- including a cookbook with some of our favorite recipes.
