Jonathan Hoekstra, Ph.D, The Nature Conservancy's Director of the Global Climate Change Team, presents: "Climate Change, Conservation and The Nature Conservancy"
As a leading scientist, Jon leads the complex climate efforts underway within the Conservancy as the Managing Director of the 35+ person team.
Jon joined the Conservancy in 2003 and since then Jon’s work has spanned global priority setting, analyses of conservation return-on-investment, start-up of emerging strategies and an ecosystem services team, leadership on climate change science and adaptation, and service on the Science Leadership Team. Jon led TNC’s global habitat assessments that produced the first-ever baseline measures of conservation across the world’s major habitat types, and informed decisions about The Nature Conservancy’s priority places and strategies
He earned B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biological Sciences from Stanford University, and a Ph.D in Zoology from the University of Washington. He lives in Seattle, WA.
