The Northeast Mississippi Conservation Program is based out of Tupelo, MS.

High Priority Conservation Areas:

Program Goals:

  • The protection, preservation and restoration of ecologically significant species, communities and ecosystems of the Buttahatchee River Watershed
  • Restoration of natural hydrologic regime and cessation of degradation to critical habitats due to accelerated erosion and sedimentation regarding the Buttahatchee River Watershed
  • Develop a coalition of partners and stakeholders within the entire Buttahatchee River Watershed to provide a framework for community based conservation and for sustainable watershed management
  • Set a positive example of environmental science and stewardship, natural resource protection and management and cooperative conservation action involving diverse partners and stakeholders
  • The protection and management of the Coonewah Creek Chalk Bluffs Preserve for the long term survival of the population of the globally endangered plant, Price’s Potato Bean
