Coonewah Creek Preserve Joins Southern Forests Network

The Nature Conservancy has enrolled its Coonewah Creek Chalk Bluffs Preserve in a pilot project providing group certification to small, non-industrial timberlands as environmentally friendly sources of wood products. The Southern Forests Network coordinates the group certification process for the Conservancy and the other landowners who collectively own about 6,000 acres ensuring ecologically sound management and forestry practices. If successful, this model could help landowners across the Southeast access the growing market for certified sustainable timber.

For more information on the Coonewah Creek Preserve, please contact Matthew Miller, Northeast Mississippi Conservation Program Director.
