Our Mission

The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.

The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has created many new volunteer opportunities. Help is needed to clean up trails and access roads on the preserves and to clear fire lanes. Some preserve boundaries need to be re-posted, and signs, fences and gates need to be repaired. To ensure the safety of visitors to many of our preserves there will be some restricted access to areas that have standing dead and damaged trees. Staff are working to make these areas safe again.
